From The Bride…Curtis is from New York, and I’m from Colorado, but we met in New York City through mutual friends. We got engaged in Colorado, but we knew that we wanted to get married in New York City, where we met and fell in love. We wanted our wedding to have a really timeless, classic New York feel. The Union Club was the perfect spot, with its ideal location, beautiful decor and hundreds of years of history. We booked our venue and our band, Hank Lane Music (we knew we wanted to have a rockin’ dance party!), before we even found our wedding planner.

54ca20468ad8b$!400xWe hoped that our wedding would feel warm and inclusive, especially since so many of our guests would be traveling. We also wanted to make sure that our guests experienced the best of New York, so we incorporated little New York touches like favors from Momofuku Milk Bar, and welcome bags filled with our favorite New York treats. I cannot say enough good things about the team at JZ Events, especially our planner, Shana, who was 8 months pregnant on the day of our wedding and still bustled my dress like a pro. They made sure everything was absolutely perfect, and we didn’t have to worry about one thing on our wedding day, besides having a wonderful time.

We wanted to keep our palette simple, so we chose navy blue and white with lots of white and blush florals and tons of candles both in the ceremony room and in our reception room. I loved the idea of a romantic, intimate candlelit ceremony, followed by a classy and glamorous black tie reception. Liza at Peartree truly made all of my Pinterest dreams come true, I gasped when the doors opened and I saw the ceremony room for the first time. Our invitations and ceremony and reception paperie were from Alpine Creative Group. We chose a simple design that matched our navy blue color palette. Our cake was by Nine Cakes, and Betsy made us an adorable bicycle cake topper since we love to cycle.

When choosing our attire for the wedding, we wanted to stick with a classic New York, black tie theme, and what says classic better than Vera Wang and Valentino? My shoes were Jimmy Choo and my unbelievable earrings (which I sadly had to return at the end of the night) were Penny Preville. My shrug was from Rent the Runway. Our bridesmaids wore navy dresses from J. Crew; each girl chose her own style so that she would feel comfortable. Styles on B did our hair and Pucker did our makeup – all of the girls said that they felt so beautiful, like the best versions of themselves. Our photographer, Charlotte Jenks Lewis, did such a breathtaking job capturing all of our favorite moments from day.
