Hyde Park Welcomes IWC

Hyde Park is proud to announce the introduction of IWC to our selection of watch brands. We would like to give you a little background on this company as well as highlight some of their popular watches.

IWC was founded in 1868 by Florentine Ariosto Jones in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. This is the only Swiss watch company to be founded by an American. Mr. Jones built the company for the purpose to produce high quality watches for the American Market. IWC has a selective distribution and we are proud to be 1 of 79 points of sale for the US and Canada.

Schaffhausen is located in area of Switzerland that has a lot of German influence. This influence of less is more can be seen in the IWC design. There are six different “families” or collections within IWC. They are Portuguese, Pilot, Aquatimer, Portofino, Da Vinci, and the Ingenieur. The most popular of these collections are the Portuguese and the Pilot.

The Portuguese Collection has a very conservative, iconic look. All of the designs have very clean looks to them and very minimalistic dials. The 37-14 which is the Portuguese Chronograph speaks true to this simplistic design. This watch comes in either a steel or gold 41mm case and only comes on a strap, the most popular colors being either brown or black.

The other successful collection is the Pilot Collection. The leading model of this collection is the Big Pilot. This watch has an in-house movement which is one of the largest automatic movements in the world. This watch come in a 46mm stainless steel case. It also features a seven day power reserve and IWC’s signature “onion” crown.
