Feeling hot this summer??? Just add Ice!

When you hear the name Chopard, some of the world’s finest and most dazzling pieces of jewelry will come to mind; however the brand originally started as a high precision pocket watch company.  Louis Ulysses Chopard started his business in 1860 in Sonvilier, Switzerland before moving to Geneva in 1920 to be in the world capital of watch making.

In 1976, one of the Chopard designers became fascinated with the brilliance and unique beauty of unset diamonds.  Ronald Kurowski was determined to find a way to be able to harness the beauty of these stones and give them the total freedom of movement within a watch.  This was the start of Chopard’s Happy Diamonds.

Designers worked tirelessly to create a dial that would be sandwiched between sapphire crystals and be surrounded by diamonds in “free play”.  The style was perfected; bezel set individual diamonds layered between the crystals would allow the diamonds to float as the wrist and watch were moved.

After the success of the first Happy Diamond watch, Chopard decided to protect its newest innovation with an international patent! This new technology was then applied to their already unique pieces of jewelry as well.

Today, The Chopard Happy Diamonds are the face and icons of the brand.  The Happy Diamonds can be spotted throughout most of Chopard’s watch lines, from the active “Happy Sport” line, to the more classic 150th Anniversary pieces.

The collections have evolved and the floating diamonds can now be found in just about every stone and shape imaginable. Whether it’s the floating fish, snowflakes, hearts, or flowers, your Chopard watch can be built just for you and the exact personality you would like your timepiece to reflect!
