Charm bracelets have been in fashion throughout the decades like any sort of trend. The trend of charms and charm bracelets originated all the way back in Ancient Egypt. The Egyptians wore them as protective shields, for status, and identification.

Even Queen Victoria wore a simple version of the charm bracelet which created a trend amongst the noble classes throughout Europe. It was said that her charm bracelet was made up of small lockets that contained photographs of her family members.

The popularity was further increased by soldiers returning home from World War II bringing home handmade keepsakes to their loved ones made by crafts people from all over the world. This trend continued into the 1950’s and 60’s with young teenagers collecting charms to record milestone events taking place in their lives. Even such style icons like Elizabeth Taylor embraced the trend of charm bracelets.

The trend died down again in the latter part of the twentieth century but re-emerged in the early 2000s with the popularity of vintage jewelry.

Like any charm bracelets, the beauty of them is that you create your own individual look. Some charm bracelets come with an existing selection of charms already attached and some of them are yours to create and evolve into memories in jewelry form.

These gorgeous jewelry accessories are a great way to tell your life story (or someone else’s) and it’s nice to have something to represent wishes for the person or an event that has actually taken place. Whether it is a birth, marriage, anniversary the options are endless. One thing is for sure – charm bracelets are a classic gift idea and gorgeous accessory that would make any woman’s jewelry wardrobe complete.
