Bronzed Beauty

One of the most talked about Special Editions unveiled by Panerai this year is the Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo (PAM382) It is easy to see that the first distinguishing characteristic of this new release is its striking Bronze case.  Taking inspiration from the marine bronze used on ships for centuries, Panerai embraced its maritime roots and launched a piece that has superior resistance to corrosion and salt water.

With its’ hefty 47mm 1950’s bronze case, wearers will get the opportunity to have a truly one of a kind piece.  The case will acquire a unique patina over time which is actually oxidation.  After the surface layer has been oxidized, a protective layer will form over the metal. The bronze alloy that Panerai has chosen (CuSn8) is front loaded so that the patina will occur in the early wear of the watch creating a truly distinctive look all its’ own.

To add to its overall charm and round out the perfect “10,000 Leagues Under the Sea” look.  Panerai used a never before seen subtle green dial with signature luminous hour markers, date display at 3 o’clock, and small seconds at 9 o’clock.

Besides the case of the PAM 382, there is a whole lot more that sets this timepiece apart from its competition.  Panerai has used the all in house caliber P.9000 movement to power this marvel. The manufacture based movement features an automatic 3 day power reserve, 28 jewels, and operates at 4 Hz.  To show off the movement, the PAM 382 has an exhibition case back and titanium back plate .

This is a highly sought after piece as are most Panerai Special Editions, being released in a one-time shot of 1,500 pieces worldwide, and a MSRP of $10,700 this Panerai is sure to be gone before it even becomes available! Perhaps with all of the new touches that Panerai is putting into this timepiece, it will be a taste of what the future of Manufacture Panerai holds….
