Green is well known as the popular environmental responsibility that has become ‘in fashion’ so to speak.
Everyone is starting to go green but jewelry has always been green…in its own way of course.

Emerald is no doubt one of the first stones that comes to mind when thinking of a green gemstone.  With its extraordinary intense color, emerald is truly a fascinating stone. Fine inclusions in this stone do not diminish its value.  In fact, a deep, rich, brilliant green emerald possessing inclusions is far more valuable than one that is nearly flawless but paler by comparison.  In its finest form, a top quality emerald is even more valuable than a diamond.  Emeralds are cut in many shapes including the smooth, rounded cabochon, but is perhaps best known for its namesake shape, the emerald cut.  Fabulously beautiful, richly intense, the emerald is truly a captivating stone.

Tourmaline comes in many colors but is most classically known for its amazing spectrum of green which ranges from a very light green  to one that is so dark, it is nearly black.  The rarest and most sought-after of the green tourmaline’s are ‘African’, a spectacular blue-green and ‘Brazilian’, a splendid dark bottle-green.  While all these stones don’t necessarily come from these places any more, the colors are still associated with their origin of discovery, so the names remain.  Each stone has it’s own unique beauty and is proudly worn by both men and women.

Peridot, known best as the August birthstone, is a rich and lively green with just a slight hint of gold.  It has a long history of significance in ancient Egyptian jewelry, and medieval churches such as Cologne Cathedral where peridot adorns one of the shrines.   It has once again become popular and is no longer just for those with an August birthday.  Peridot is a stunning stone that is claiming its well deserved place in fashion, and can often be found in bold, contemporary pieces.
